Another fantastic weekend for our Pattison dancers, who once again took to the stage at the Rushton Dance Festival in Coventry and made us all incredibly proud.

Our pupils performed a wonderful mix of brand‑new routines and well‑polished favourites, all showcased before an independent adjudicator. Many dancers achieved higher placements than in previous entries, which is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to their dedication, hard work, and passion.

As with every performance, we are so proud of each and every one of you. You represent Pattison so beautifully and continue to prove that our “small but mighty school” truly is a force to be reckoned with!

Celebrating Curiosity: Senior Pupils Share Their British Science Week Projects
As part of our celebrations for British Science Week, our senior pupils have been busy working on a range of exciting projects—some independently, others collaboratively—all inspired by this year’s theme: “Curiosity.”

They explored fascinating questions about the world around them, carried out research, and developed creative ways to present their findings. Their projects showcased a wonderful mix of scientific thinking, imagination, and a genuine desire to investigate how things work.

🔬 Friday Morning’s Science Assembly

On Friday, we held a Science Assembly where senior pupils presented their projects to the school community. Prep School pupils were invited to come along, view the displays, and talk to the older pupils about their ideas, methods, and discoveries.

It was a fantastic opportunity for younger pupils to:

Explore a variety of scientific investigations
Ask questions and spark their own curiosity
Interact with hands‑on displays
See Science learning in action across the school
Senior pupils set up their displays during assembly and were ready to welcome everyone shortly afterwards. The event was a wonderful celebration of curiosity, creativity, and collaborative learning.

Curious Chemistry in Action: Year 5 & 6 Explore Solids, Liquids and Gases
As part of Science Week, our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been busy becoming young scientists! They have carried out a series of hands‑on experiments to deepen their understanding of the properties of solids, liquids and gases.

Throughout the week, the children explored different ways to separate solids, using techniques such as sieving, filtering and magnetism. These practical investigations helped them see how everyday materials can be sorted based on their physical properties.

Another highlight was an investigation into how to keep objects cool. Pupils experimented with a variety of materials to discover which ones were the most effective insulators, learning how heat travels—and how it can be slowed down.

The children also explored how solids, liquids and gases behave in different containers, observing how each state of matter responds to shape, space, and movement. This hands‑on approach helped them bring scientific concepts to life in a memorable and engaging way.

It has been a fantastic week of discovery, creativity and scientific thinking. Our pupils showed great enthusiasm and curiosity throughout every experiment!

Exploring Nature and Creativity: A Wonderful Walk to the Senior School.
The children enjoyed a wonderful walk to the senior school this week, where their curiosity was sparked the moment we stopped by the pond. They were fascinated to spot frogspawn floating on the water, which led to lots of thoughtful conversations about nature, life cycles, and how frogs grow. It was a lovely opportunity for the children to observe seasonal changes and engage with the natural world around them.

As we continued our walk, the children eagerly collected sticks of all shapes and sizes. We explored the bumps, lumps, and textures, encouraging the children to talk about what they could see and feel. This simple activity gave them a chance to develop language skills, practise close observation, and enjoy hands‑on discovery.

Once back at school, and after giving the sticks time to dry, the children had great fun transforming them through bright and colourful painting. This creative activity brought together everything they had explored outdoors—nature, texture, imagination, and expressive arts.

It was a delightful blend of outdoor learning, sensory exploration, and creative expression. The children’s enthusiasm and curiosity shone throughout the entire experience.

Everyone these days is aware of the benefits of children reading and having access to books from an early age; research shows that children who develop the love of reading from an early age are far more likely to go to university and onto professional careers.

So, with that in mind, it is always a delight to celebrate World Book Day - for the last few years it`s been customary for year 7 students to create a `Book in a Box` to represent their favourite book and the current students have not disappointed! Their choice of books range from `Twenty Thousand Years Under The Sea` by Jules Verne to `Charlie and the Chocolate Factory` by Roald Dahl and as you can see in the photos, they have made absolutely brilliant visual representations.
