SPECIAL PRAISE FROM THE LORD MAYOR OF COVENTRY

Pupils were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Linda Bigham, to a special assembly. The Lord Mayor presented certificates and medals to Senior pupils, who had raised £714 for the Coventry Children’s Boot Fund, by packing shopping at Marks & Spencer at Christmas. Children of Pattison College have attended and supported this annual event for the past 16 years and have raised a magnificent total of £13,000. The Lord Mayor, who was accompanied by the charity’s Treasurer, Mr Martin Harban, thanked the pupils and praised them for freely giving of their time to help others. She spoke of the “dignity it gave to children from less affluent backgrounds who benefitted from the charity’s support.” Councillor Bigham presented a special certificate in recognition of Pattison College’s achievement to John Taylor, Headmaster, to mark the occasion. She passed on a message of congratulations from legendary Olympian, Dave Moorcroft OBE, who is Patron of the Coventry Boot Fund. The ceremony was also attended by Mrs Elizabeth McConnell, former Principal of Pattison College, and the Lord Mayor’s husband.
